Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) - Definition

ACSC stands for “Australian Cyber Security Centre” and plays a crucial role in the Australian Government's efforts to strengthen cyber security. The organization works to make Australia a safer place for online activity by monitoring cyber threats around the world and providing early warning to the public.

The ACSC provides comprehensive advice and information to protect individuals and businesses from cyber threats. In the event of security incidents, it provides clear and timely advice for private individuals, companies and operators of critical infrastructure. Solutions to cyber threats are developed through close collaboration with partners in business, government and academia. With a nationwide network of cyber security centers, the ACSC works with a variety of partners. In cooperation with law enforcement agencies, it is actively engaged in the fight against cybercrime.

The organization has developed prioritized containment strategies, known as the Essential Eight, and has defined three levels of maturity for each strategy: partial, predominant and full implementation of the containment strategy.
