Bug - Definition

Bugs, also known as program errors, cause malfunctions in software. They are logical errors in the code that are not detected by syntax checks. “Bug” literally means “bug” and was used again in the 1940s when insects caused actual malfunctions in computers.

Bugs can cause various types of errors, including arithmetic, interface, logic, syntax and runtime errors. To avoid bugs, sound software development is crucial, including test-based and behavioral approaches. Software tests such as functional, exploratory and regression tests are essential.

In the event of a bug, debugging is necessary, which includes error isolation, root cause determination and problem resolution. Companies should make continuous improvements, carefully consider rollouts and rollbacks, and gather feedback to minimize bugs and ensure software quality.
