Virtual Private Network (VPN) - Definition

VPN stands for “Virtual Private Network” and is a technology that establishes secure and encrypted connections via private or public networks. The aim is to ensure the privacy, security and confidentiality of data communication in insecure networks.

Encryption technologies are used during the transmission of data packets. This protects sensitive information from unauthorized access. To provide protection against interception or manipulation, “tunnels” are created through the public network so that data is transmitted between the user and the target server. It is possible to hide the user's true IP address when using VPNs. The IP address of the VPN server is used instead. VPNs can also be used to circumvent geographical restrictions.

VPNs are of great importance in the IT world because they are used in public applications, companies or private applications to ensure privacy and security in communication.
