Tower Server - Definition

A tower server is a special type of server hardware that is housed in a rectangular enclosure in the shape of a tower.

In contrast to rack servers, which are mounted in standardized rack housings, they are stand-alone devices that can be placed on the desk or floor. This facilitates maintenance, installation and access to the hardware components. Tower servers are used for file sharing, print servers, application hosting and database services (data storage and data storage). They are scalable and offer space for several internal drives, expansion cards or memory modules.

Tower servers are mainly used in smaller companies and offices or departments in larger organizations that require server services but do not have dedicated server rooms or rack infrastructure. They are a popular choice for companies as they are easy to use and very compact. They also do not require a dedicated rack-mounted server infrastructure.
