Power Failure - Definition

A power failure is the unexpected interruption of the electrical power supply, which means that computers, servers, networks and other electronic devices can no longer function properly.

The interruption can be of short duration, i.e. a few seconds, minutes or hours. Causes can include power outages, technical problems, attacks via the internet, human error or natural disasters and can have a significant impact on the availability and integrity of data, such as Data loss, system crashes and business interruptions.

It is therefore important to implement protective measures such as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and disaster recovery plans.
