Line-Interactive UPS - Definition

A line-interactive UPS is an uninterruptible power supply with special technology. This technology offers electronic devices protection against power failures, voltage fluctuations and short-term voltage peaks.

The UPS system continuously monitors and regulates the input voltage to maintain a reliable power supply. In the event of a power supply failure, it keeps the inverter connected to the mains and diverts direct current from the battery from normal charging mode to the power supply. This results in a switchover to the battery supply. Line-interactive UPSs are used in computer systems, networks or telecommunications systems. Advantages are, for example, a good price-performance ratio, low operating costs, good efficiency or good filter performance. However, there is a switching gap of a few milliseconds (4 ms) when switching to battery operation.

The line-interactive UPS is used in environments where voltage fluctuations occur frequently. They protect sensitive electronic devices from damage and data loss caused by power problems.
