Peer-to-Peer Network (P2P Network) - Definition

A peer-to-peer network (P2P network) describes a decentralized communication system. It is heterogeneous and consists of 2 devices that are connected to each other with a cable.

These devices are referred to as peers in the network. Both devices in this network have equal rights and have access to each other's data. They are not dependent on a central server. It is also possible to share resources such as storage space or programs.

P2P networks are used to share files, stream media content and provide distributed services. The advantages of a P2P network are scalability, redundancy and reliability. However, these networks require special protocols and mechanisms to ensure efficient and secure communication.
