Database Server - Definition

A database server is a computer or computer program on which database systems are located that are important for the flow of information. It supports the data management services and makes them available to other computers.

In larger systems, very powerful mainframes are used to manage the high volume of data. A distinction is made between two applications. One is the software (server), which manages the database and processes accesses and queries from a client. The second is a computer on which the aforementioned software is executed. For smaller systems, normal servers with corresponding hardware are used.

Database servers are crucial for the efficient storage and management of data in the IT world.
