Cloud - Definition

The cloud makes it possible to back up files and use software applications without having to store or install them on a local computer or network. It consists of servers hosted in globally distributed data centers, which can save companies money and allow users to work more conveniently.

The use of cloud computing eliminates the need for users and companies to manage physical servers themselves or run software applications on their own computers. Cloud services offer flexible use of storage space, computing power and software via the internet using interfaces and protocols. Without an internet connection, the application is limited. Cloud services in the cloud are actively managed by the provider and include infrastructure, applications, development tools and data storage.

Cloud solutions include cloud-based IT infrastructures, systems and applications. This corresponds to the outsourcing of data or applications from company computers. There are three main types of clouds: public cloud, private cloud and hybrid cloud.

The cloud is indispensable for modern data management, enabling secure data storage and flexible data access on remote servers. Large companies offer powerful cloud services to store data securely and access it flexibly. Using the cloud ensures data protection and enables access from different devices.
