Star Topology - Definition

The star topology is a network topology in which all devices in a network are directly connected to a central node, such as a network switch or a hub.

This central point acts as a distributor and enables communication between the devices, which takes place by forwarding data from one device to all other devices. Each device has a separate and dedicated connection to the hub, which makes the star topology an easy-to-manage and expandable network configuration.

The advantage is that the failure of one device normally has no effect on the functionality of the other devices. It only has an impact if the central node is affected.
