Internet of Things (IoT) - Definition

The Internet of Things (IoT) encompasses all technologies in a global infrastructure in which virtual and physical machines and devices are networked. This networking creates its own communication structure that enables collaboration. This includes, for example, the automation of applications or the completion of tasks.

In recent years, the IoT has become an important technology based on the technical foundation of the internet, microprocessors and artificial intelligence. Many everyday objects can now be connected to the internet, enabling seamless communication between devices and people. The IoT has only been fully realized thanks to the following factors: machine learning and analysis, connectivity, availability of low-cost sensor technology with low power consumption, cloud computing platforms and artificial intelligence with conversational functions.

The Internet of Things enables the collection and use of data on an unimaginable scale, leading to greater innovation, efficiency and convenience. It is changing the way we interact with our environment and has a major impact on many IT industries.
