DDoS Attack - Definition

DDoS attacks are special cyberattacks in which a distributed network is used to overload websites. DDoS stands for “Distributed Denial of Service”. The aim is to slow down or block legitimate traffic.

For over two decades, criminals have been using DDoS attacks to cause targeted damage to companies. These highly effective attacks are a serious threat. Criminals use sophisticated techniques such as botnets to orchestrate their attacks.

DDoS mitigation services offer companies the ability to reduce the attack surface, prevent downtime and respond quickly to DDoS events. These services protect against financial loss, damage to brand image and loss of profits, minimize web security costs and provide protection against new threats such as extortion and ransomware.
